Thoughts on Grandiose Dreams

We are always being told
To have enormous dreams-
though the endings to these fairy tales
are rarely within reach.
And when kids are left behind,
they just “didn’t give enough.”
Where everyone must be a star,
the moons are giving up.
But I’ve always been a fan
of the softer glowing lights-
I’ve always found respect within
the average person’s plight.
So, when I am one day asked
What dreams I realized,
I’ll proudly say unto the soul,
“My dream to just survive.”
